This is the Beyond the Story podcast, a show that goes way beyond the story. And now, Sebastian Rusk Adrian, welcome to the show. Thank you. Thanks for being here. Great to connect with you. I know that we connected through the great Dan Martell's elite coaching program. Great community over there. And of course, great coaching coming from Dan and such a great opportunity to connect with other great humans. So great to be here with you. I look forward to hearing more about your story. I love telling people's story on this podcast. And for context purposes, I like going back to the beginning of the story. I know that's different for everyone. So you decide what the beginning is for you. Take us back for a few minutes to the beginning of your story and what really brought you to present day with what you currently do with Right, so this was like about 20 years ago, right, when I was about to graduate from university, I was studying in real estate. And my love within that faculty was actually to do marketing and presentations. I love to always sell people ideas. And that was really my first love. So from there, I I actually developed a, I created a company that was servicing web development for a major local real estate developer here in Singapore. So like, I think they were like $5 or$7 billion worth as a company. And I had the privilege to actually service them building marketing focused real estate websites. So back in the day it was, we were doing all these things in Flash. So I'm not sure whether you're familiar with Macromedia Flash, but we were always doing all this fancy animation and things like that. So what really changed was everything looked rosy. But Apple came along and created the iPhone. So that changed things a lot for us in the tech world. So that meant that we couldn't do Macromedia Flash. They were dropping Macromedia Flash. So I had to come to a point where I was asking myself, do I want to continue investing in Macromedia Flash or not. So that decision actually led me to kind of break my company apart. I lost my partner, my business partner, because he wanted to continue doing that. And I had to pivot into web development. So web development itself was like WordPress, we're doing custom themes, launching it for small businesses. So we couldn't actually do that for the big company anymore. So it was really a re-pivot and having to basically start from scratch in that sense. But as we moved on, I had more clients, we established a base. What really got me going was, how do I actually add value to websites after we develop them? So a lot of clients, after we launch a site, they will ask me like, hey Adrian, so I've got this fancy website up, what do I do with it? And I couldn't give them a straight answer. So I actually equipped myself with the skills. So I was a young man back then. So we, we started out onboarding skills such as digital marketing, you know, SEO, running ads and, and, and Facebook marketing. So, so all those kinds of skills kind of came on board and, and I couldn't do all of those things by myself. So I started getting different teams to support me in those areas. And that's where I am today. And, um, And going to business is hard, right? I mean, in this economic climate. And one of the things I can think about was the persistence to try to make it work. I think that was the biggest challenge for me amidst family commitments, amidst increasing bills, increasing financial commitments. It was just always a struggle in that sense. And the landscape kept changing. And what I found I needed was always someone to mentor me, no one's going to mentor me in a really competitive environment in Singapore. So Singapore is kind of interesting in the sense that it's a country and a state of itself. So every kind of marketing we do is always local business and it's always competing with the big boys. So it's a pressure pot and our landscape is very unforgiving in a sense. If we fail, it's all on us, that there is basically almost no buffer for us to work with. And that's a challenge. I mean, things have been okay. We've got a few clients on board that paid well, so we grew from there as a business. I mean, for me, most of my work is outsourced to partners and people who supply their expertise in Google PPC, meta paid ads, you know, doing, doing uplanding pages, meta marketing. So my, my expertise is still in those areas, but I focus more on web development and getting the online presence really prim and proper. So, so that's Right now, the best paying customers would be our clinical services. So we've got medical specialists here in Singapore that are able to afford our fees. The next in line would be law firms, so law firms like legal chambers. Those guys actually do help with the ability for them to continue to run campaigns with us. And much easier clients to work with because I'm also trying to be more selective with my clientele. So being part of Dan's elite helps me put the right, me in the right frame of mind where I'm no longer going everything on the table, right? I have to be selective of the clients that I want to work with because my time is precious. And part of the whole Dan Martell strategy is to buy back our time. And that's where I'm moving towards as well, higher value clients. And I think what really helped me back was the mindset of things, you know, it's always, always like, can I get the higher paying clients? Am I good enough? But these days it's no longer, no longer the question. It's more like, can, what can I do for them? And what can I offer them? So, you know, sell them, sell them the project first and then figure out, I think that's the best way to grow. And there's, there's no other way we can grow as entrepreneurs. And that's what I have to, wrap my head around it. And thank goodness, I'm kind of like gung-ho in a sense. I'm willing to make the effort to take the first plunge, sell it, and then build it, Yeah, so you gotta help them better understand what they don't know that they don't know, and then create an opportunity to show them where exactly you can help them. Yeah, I mean, pretty much what we do is we kind of figure out where their needs are and we know where they want to go to and we know what tools will get them there. But sometimes it's not so much about selling them an SEO project or selling them a digital ads campaign. So it's actually understanding where they're at and speaking their language. So that's where I actually start to realize we can actually use tools like Claw to do a background sweep of the prospect we're talking to and tie in with the systems we learn in the Elite Coaching Group. which really makes it a lot more specific. And I realized the closing rate is so much higher because I come in, clients are so impressed with my understanding of where they're coming from, even before they speak. It's almost like I can read their minds. So that really ups the game a lot in terms of my sales strategy for prospects. And I'm closing a lot more deals In fact, it's actually starting to get scary because I'm asking myself, can I actually fulfill all these incoming leads? Whereas the previous struggle was, can And what was that shift? What started the shift to generate even more So part of me believes that, used to think that everything is cause and effect, right? But because it's spiritual. I think I heard from, was it Myron Golden? I'm not sure whether you're familiar with Myron Golden. He used to be a Christian pastor preaching from church to church, but now he's like a hundred millionaire or something. He's got a group following on YouTube and I listen to his content. Basically, he shares that wealth is spiritual. it's a kind of spiritual energy. And I do believe it because as I start to shift my mind on possibilities rather than, oh, where I'm at and what should I do? And I just say, you know, like Dan said, it's our birthright. To be rich is our birthright. We were born to be rich. We were born into a world that we were supposed to experience abundance. And until I received that kind of thought, it never really changed for me. But once I started accepting that, I saw my world shift before my eyes. And opportunities started coming my way. People, I thought they would never contact me. They started calling me and saying, hey, you know, I've got this guy, he's interested, or this CEO from this bank, they want to talk to you. I mean, we're talking really like doors opening beyond my imagination. And also, I think it's also that part of, it's not just spiritual, but also embodying it. Some people in the manifestation speak, they go like, you got to be it before you receive it. And I think that's really true. So not just a mind shift, but being able to embody that person that received this kind of opportunities for me was a breakthrough. I didn't, I never realized that it was possible until I actually kind of decided, hey, why So that's my journey. Right, exactly. It's a belief system and it's also believing that it's already happening before it actually is happening, which is a very big challenge for a lot of people, including myself. It's like, hey, if you want to be, you know, if you want to be worth 10 million, you have to act as if you're already worth 10 million and it's already there. Dan talks about that a lot. You know, you have to embody exactly where you want to be before you've even got there, because your subconscious doesn't know the difference between your conscious mind on there. And if you can convince your subconscious that you're already there, well, then you start living your Exactly. So, for entrepreneurs even, I check out my daily habits. For example, a bill comes in, am I going like, oh, I got to pay this bill again? It shifted from like, yeah, these guys are doing good work, I'm paying them. In fact, I'll find more people who can do even better work and pay them well, so that they can do great work for me. It's even like paying of bills or, you know, even buying a something on discount. The discount is so small, I don't even care anymore. I go like, yeah, I'm just gonna pay it because like what you say, if I'm worth like $10 million, I better be behaving like I'm $10 million. It's more for myself and convincing myself that I'm worth it rather than trying to Yeah, I'd say, you know, believing something and then, you know, pretending that Yeah, I mean, some call it the universe, some call it God, some call it your own subconscious mind. It's more intelligent than us. We can't fool ourselves, ultimately. We've got to be serious about what we do and what keeps me going. is, for example, hearing business coaches, not just Dan, but many coaches, like what do you bring to the world? You know, show up for yourself, show up for people in the best version of yourself. And that has really shifted my mind away from my limitations, but showing up for people. Because my life has always been about serving others. So that comes very naturally. But part of that also came with the dark side of serving others, but forgetting who I am. You know, serving others, you can be serving from poverty, you can be serving from lack, but when you're serving from abundance and power, that's really different. I've Yeah, and it's kind of hard to go back to your old belief system once you've experienced the Yeah, I mean, the way we speak, the way I speak, it comes from a point, a place of confidence, not like, not like I'm trying to sell you because I need your money, but more like, hey, this really works. It's going to work for you. You know, go, go. You can go with us or not, it's fine, but this is the plan, you know? And when I've positioned things that way, clients, I'm not chasing them anymore. They're asking me for quotes. They're asking me for, you know, like, what can I do for them these days? It's really like, it's not false confidence. It's really from a Yeah, absolutely. Well, Adrian, it's been great to get to better know you. And I'm encouraged by our conversation because, you know, it's not always easy to be an entrepreneur. It's not always easy to wake up, have your feet hit the ground every morning and go, I believe it all. And it's all happening. More times than not, we live in not a scarcity mindset, but sometimes we slip back into that scarcity mindset. And we have to remind ourselves both who we are, how far we've come, what we now believe, what is true, and what results have been produced based on that new mindset. So I'm encouraged by our conversation. It's been really great to connect with you and learn more about you. As we wrap up the conversation here, any final Just believe in your dream because your dream came to you for a reason. If it's too big, it's not too big. It's something that you can achieve. So go for Love that. Absolutely love that. Hey, thanks again for your time, Adrian. Really I appreciate your time. Thank you. Until next time, friends.
