This is the Beyond the Story podcast, a show that goes way beyond the story. And now, Sebastian Rusk Excited to have you here. Thanks for taking some time out of your day to hang out with me for just a few minutes to chat about your story. That's what I love to do on this show is tell people's story. For our listeners, I always like to add some context and go back to the beginning of the story. Now, the beginning of the story is different for everyone, so you decide exactly where that's at, but let's spend a few minutes going back to the beginning of the story, where it all began, what really brought you, and then what brought you to where you're at right now Yeah, absolutely. And thank you for the opportunity because I'm on a mission to positively impact the life of a million people. I come from the corporate world and, you know, through my career, I went up through the corporate ranks. And at the end of my career, I was working over 80 hours a week managing business divisions and, you know, different areas of this big corporation. And I completely burnt out. So at the age of 47, I made the bold move to quit or part ways with the company I had been with for over 24 years. And I completely reinvented myself. So at first I focused on my health to really get better with my mental health. And then after I wrote a book about leadership focused on love and then I launched my own company started doing a speaking business but also I'm just starting a coaching business right now and I also have a podcast for the optical industry so I'm I'm here to tell people that it's never too late to reinvent yourself. You know, I'm turning 50 next year and I have a whole new purpose and a different life in At the age of 47. So that was a couple years ago. Yeah, a couple years ago, I took a few months off just to regroup and really heal. And I've done that through many different resources, including books and podcasts, meditation.
00:02:45.936 --> 00:07:40.971
And then when I started feeling better, this is when I decided, you know, you can't measure your worth by the number of e-mails, the number of financial targets that you achieve, and the number of meetings you have. I decided that I would live my life purposely and in full alignment with my objectives. So it's really to help people and make So what exactly is your primary focus? What is your business now? How do you help I help people, well, through my book, Content Lovely Succeed, it has 15 chapters of content to help people, not only in business, but in their personal life, to really rediscover their purpose. And I share many tips on how to, you know, recenter, focus, and live again with energy and purpose. Then the second way I help people, now it's through my speaking business, and then I'm just starting a coaching business, and I am a mindset purpose coach. I think through this work, I'll be able to help people one-on-one, so I'm super excited I am just starting working on getting my first client. So, uh, it's something that I started working on last week, but to me, it's a natural, uh, step, uh, to really extend my mission that I've, uh, created with my So over the past couple of years, you just been focused on the book. Has that been the focus I also have a consulting business. I'm from the optical industry, so I am helping a couple of clients in Canada or a client from China to market their product in this country as well. So I've been doing this Very cool. So what do you have in store for 2026? What 2026 is to really just launch my coaching business a couple of days ago. I really want to expand on that and also expand my book sales and my speaking business as well to really be able to communicate my message of love, lead, succeed to as many people as Yeah, that sounds like a great game plan. Any plans to write another Yeah, actually, I'd love to write another book. I'm going to give myself another year because I just published a French version and it's a long process. It's a lot of work. But I've realized when I wrote my book that there's one chapter that I absolutely love and it's the one about the power of the mind. And I'm so passionate about that topic. So I'd love to write a book that would just expand in many more chapters about this topic of what your Yeah, well your mind really is, you know, you have your subconscious and your conscious mind and it's really your subconscious mind that dictates about 95% of what you think about or about your behaviors. I'm a big fan of Dr. Joe Dispenza. I've actually gone to two of his retreats and read all of his books. So I really believe in this concept that you're much more powerful than you think. And through various activities, you could really create the life you want. It's with your thinking, what you think about, you become. You need to make sure you think about the right thing, limit the negative thinking and the noise. There's many ways of doing it, whether it's through meditation or positive affirmation. Then just in general, I would say one of the key thing for the mind is gratitude is the key because gratitude is the ultimate state of receivership. These would be my three core, I would say pillars on the power of the mind, but there's so much more to talk about. I'm very passionate about Yeah, so tell us more about the book. Why'd you write it?
00:07:44.413 --> 00:08:10.992
Yeah. You know, as I mentioned at the beginning, I burnt out from a corporate career, so I wanted to inspire others, not only women, that you can, you know, rise from burnout And it's never too late to reinvent yourself. And I really wanted people to start believing in their full potential.
00:08:11.132 --> 00:08:14.896
And that's why the mind is so important.
00:08:14.995 --> 00:09:42.456
But there's also the full concept of leadership. I talk about leadership with love and the power of emotional intelligence. At the end of my career, I had the supervisor or a boss that was bullying me. That's why for me, leading with love is so important because we can't measure our success with titles, but Yeah, it certainly is. I think, you know, this day and age, there's not really much room for bullies anymore. I wish it Yeah, I know. I know. I could have used Yeah. No, it's it's still very present. And I think we need to stop glorifying the, you know, the hustle culture because there's a lot of big corporation that's you know, they have limited respect for employees' personal time. And I know I was getting, you know, emails and text messages at 6 a.m. or on the weekend. So we really need to start paying attention to employees' wellness and employees' engagement and really start I think that it should be corporate policy that if you get bullied in the workplace, you can punch the bully right in the face. Yeah.
00:09:42.936 --> 00:09:51.580
I like that. I used to do kickboxing. So that would Oh, you can kick them where it counts. Yeah. Yeah.
00:09:52.721 --> 00:09:56.462
Again, you can tell I've never been in the corporate world. I haven't had a job in 25 years.
00:09:56.523 --> 00:10:15.390
So my recommendations might not be the most prudent So you and I connected over in Dan Martell's, the great Dan Martell's Only three months, but it's been so inspiring.
00:10:15.410 --> 00:10:40.010
You know, I really work with the five daily non-negotiables now, but to me, the biggest thing is really the networking. I've connected to so many LOF elite members, and I think the It's like a multi-prong approach, and the coaching's great, the network's great. I went out to Canada, spent a weekend with Dan and the team out there. It was just awesome.
00:10:40.071 --> 00:11:06.917
So yeah, I've been in for about a year now. I got no plans of leaving. Yeah, same here. Probably Well, Isabellele, it's been great to chat with you more and learn more about what you're doing on here. We'll be sure to include all your links in the show notes so people can connect with you further and grab a copy of your book. Any final thoughts for Um, I would say you do not need to start over.
00:11:07.017 --> 00:11:10.639
You need to start, uh, being aligned.
00:11:10.720 --> 00:11:26.571
So just realize what your purpose is. And, um, you know, I would encourage people to start thinking bigger, you know, your, your potential Yeah, it sure is great. Final thoughts. Thanks again, Isabelle. I appreciate it.
