This is the Beyond the Story Podcast, a show that goes way beyond the story. Alex, welcome to the show. Hello. I well, I'm I gotta say, you're the first person that I've invited onto the show and I met because of AI, but it wasn't because I was writing with something with AI. It was because I was reading one of your very well thought out and highly educational posts about chat GPT and about AI specifically. So I'm excited to jump into this conversation. I know that chat GPT kind of showed up overnight, it appears, uh, as did AI, even though the technology's been around for quite some time. But welcome to the show and thanks for taking some time out of your day to hang out with me for a few minutes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, nice to come in. Great, great to have you here. So let's dive right in. So that the post that you wrote on LinkedIn a few weeks back, where did that originate from? Where was the, you know, walk me through that process and exactly why you decided to write the post and then you know what you actually talked about throughout the post.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So see, I'm I'm in a digital marketing, been there for 15 years, and I'm always been very curious of new technology, what's going on, what is the next thing. So I've been heavily involved in Google Ads, Google site of digital marketing. And you know, they they use AI from probably more than three, four years at least. Like all the bidding, all that stuff changed a lot. And then in December, I found this Chat GPT and so okay, that's that's interesting. I start to explore, and then I found that basically at that specific stage, they're just like two groups of people, the one saying very excited, oh, that's great, that will solve all of our problems, and the other one skeptical. And I thought, All right, uh the excited guys, fine, but actually it's not as good as you imagine. And the skeptical guys, I say, okay, let's go out of the comfort zone and see what's what we can do with that. And that's where I started do these posts. And basically, I I follow some other people talking about that, and I doing kind of kind of curated posts once a week, and then the rest of the time I'm doing some some some sort of you know um experiments most of the time, like uh quite quite different, quite a lot of experiments I've done, and I I continue doing because you know it's just for fun, it makes me happy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, and it's a it's also a process of being able to figure things out, correct?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean being able to uh you know figure out how's this whole thing work. I mean, that's what I find myself doing on a daily basis, is being able to uh go in there and go, all right, well, how does this thing work in the first place? So, uh what what do you think the biggest uses for artificial intelligence uh tools like chat GPT are right now for businesses?
SPEAKER_00I think at the moment, what we have like uh let's say uh wide public available, because things like that are available for a long time, it's not something new, but because now it's like a widespread, everyone can access it. It's at the moment we are at a stage that we can basically implement Chat GPT or something similar to everything related to manipulating texts. So whatever you do with texts, simple one, emails. You need to write an emails, you need to have a specific ton of emails. So chat GPT can help you writing your emails, or you need to do a content like a blog post, or you need to do your social media blog posts, or you need to do you know everything related with text. And the the sweet thing is that it's uh it's a simple interface, it's easy to use, and it's available for everyone, not accessible all the time, but available for everyone. So that will be the first stage when we uh kind of uh start dealing with text, and then the next the next thing will be uh images and the next thing will be video, I believe. Even now there's there's tools doing that, but we are in very, very uh initial stage of this tech.
SPEAKER_01So so artificial intelligence will be able to help create videos, is that what I'm hearing you say?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. I imagine in less than five years, most of the Hollywood blockbusters will be done by AI.
SPEAKER_01Wow, wow, I didn't even think about that, but I I did read an article earlier this week about Tom Hanks being re know reimagined a younger version of Tom Hanks because of AI on a movie. I don't remember who the other actor was, uh, or actress rather. But um, it's kind of wild to think. I mean, are are humans even gonna be needed eventually, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, you know that there's one very interesting book called Life 3 Zero. And if you if you read just the introduction, the first chapter is about uh um a group of scientists created um an artificial intelligence called Prometheus or something like that, and then they just basically train the model, train the model, and then basically they conquer the world because they be all the time one step in front of everything else, so there is no competition because they can beat everything. I mean, they start creating like uh text, start doing micro jobs, uh Amazon stuff, then they start moving, moving, and then they finish with the big companies producing video movies, all that stuff, and then basically they can create the best character based on the people needs. You know what I mean? If you have good input data from the user saying, Oh, we need the blonde, we need uh handsome man, uh all that stuff, so they can basically artificially create the character and then uh use exact character in the movie, and that will resonate with everyone say, Okay, that's the best movie I ever saw, you know, I've ever seen. So so that's but but that's a science fiction fine science fiction book, but it's not far away from from the reality.
SPEAKER_01So actors may be out of a job sometimes, you know. That may be a good or bad thing, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because if you think about how what means good actor, so like uh what's what are the proportion of your face to be a good actor so that can be easily manipulated and to create the the best actor or set factors, let's say.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely, absolutely. So, do you think artificial intelligence is going to replace copywriters and people that have you know marketing jobs that will, you know, that AI will come in and and not not just replace but uh take over?
SPEAKER_00No, I don't think so. I think it will be very soon we'll see that um AI will be some sort of uh virtual assistant to what you're doing on a daily basis, but it's not going to replace the job, at least it's far away. We are far away simply because the AI can can't get the context, it it can understand like the complexity of the task. So you can have, for example, from with from Chat GPT, we can get very, very good written article, but it's just scratching the surface, it's not in depth. So it will be kind of a tool that helps you create the the bones of the of the article, the bones of the of what you're writing, but it can replace totally. I mean but if you look back into the past when the the the example I'm always giving is like uh do you remember the time before? Um like ATM machines. So if you want to take money from bank, you go to the bank, fill your check, get the money, and then when the ATM were introduced, so people in the banks like saying, Oh, we're going to lose our job, but it doesn't happen.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, right. Exactly. Exactly. It's always the prediction on there, but I mean we're not going to replace human human beings. I always use the example of the hardware store, like you're always going to need to, and there's only so many things you can have shipped to your front door, right? I don't know if you'll be able to, I mean, I guess you could technically have like you know, two by four shipped to your house if you really wanted to on there, but you know, there's some things that require an actual physical human effort to get done that I don't think that computers and robots will replace.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like if you think uh robots or computers at the moment can be a plumber.
SPEAKER_01Right. Something very something simple that like that. Sure, yeah, right. If you think a computer's gonna fix your toilet, I mean that'd be a very advanced toilet, right? Or very advanced robots, yeah, absolutely. So, what are you most excited about with the world of AI?
SPEAKER_00What I'm most excited about, I mean, I'm always excited about new tech. Um, my war, my only worry at the moment is that uh that can basically um decrease critical critical thinking in people because everything is ready, everything is uh done, and you don't need even to think. But sometimes you need to dive a little bit deeper and see, okay, is that true, is that correct, is that what I want to say, and things like that. But yeah, I think exciting times. Um my thinking is that that will be one of the pillars that we're going to bring this fourth industrial revolution, where actually at some point people are going to start working, but I'm not sure what going what they're going to do with their all that time in the world. All right. We gotta be doing something, right?
SPEAKER_01Exactly.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So and when is is this what your business does? What you what is your primary focus for your business?
SPEAKER_00So, yeah, uh our primary focus, we are just um marketing agency, we're doing paid paid advertising for our clients, and um we are like uh specialized in event industry, so our clients are big trade shows and you know things like that, conferences. So we're doing their uh like a lead generation for the for the attendees.
SPEAKER_01Ah, okay, great, great. So AI is obviously a factor as a marketer, uh, of course. Um it's it's a factor into what you will be doing or you know, making your making your job just that much easier. I I was I was having a conversation uh right before our interview uh about AI specifically with marketers. And you know, AI isn't going to replace any human being specifically. I think it's going to what my guest said was that it's going to it's going to 10x what a human being can do, what what a human being is already doing on the content side. And if somebody is already 10xing their content, they'll be that much further ahead because instead of being able to crank out, you know, a blog post a day, you could do 10 blog posts a day now because of the technology, but with also a human effort as well. And I thought that was an an interesting perspective that it's not here to really replace anything, it's help, it's here to help us do even more. Now, to his same point, he said, you know, what I don't think is going to happen is you're not gonna continue to be paid 50 bucks a blog article for you in an SEO-friendly blog article uh as a copywriter or or or a blogger, because machine technology will come in and be able to 10x what one person can actually go and do. Have you have you considered any of that as well?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think that that's exactly what's going to happen. Like uh all this new technology with the productivity, basically. And uh we we're going to have more time thinking on more top-level strategic thing rather than going into so much details, but keep in mind that always there should be a human element because when you're writing something, whatever is ads or let's a simple example we're doing ads, paid ads. If you put that job 100% to the machines, then you know at the end of the day, whoever is clicking on your ads are humans, so they'll they'll have that feeling that it's not done by done by humans. So you need to put your your personal input to the whatever you're doing and just using AI to to help you do it quicker and do it better. That's what I think.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I love that. Do it quicker and do it better. Well, Alex, I'm glad we had a chance to finally connect. I know we linked up over on LinkedIn, linked up, linked up over on LinkedIn. Imagine that. Uh, but it just goes to show the power of content. Content allows us to build new relationships, find new podcast uh guests as well, and uh increase our knowledge from people that know more than we do or know more about something that we want to know more about. So I definitely appreciate you taking some time out of your day to to hang out with me uh here on the Beyond the Story podcast. And uh one to continue to wish you ongoing success, sir. And I look forward to staying connected with you. Any any final thoughts for our listeners on the world of artificial intelligence?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, be curious and be cautious.
