What Does Commitment Mean To You - Traffic & Conversions Summit 2021

This is an episode I recorded in September 2021 while attending the Traffic & Conversions Summit in San Diego, CA. I recorded this episode inside a mobile podcasting studio which happened to be a vintage VW bus.

What are you committed to?

This is the Beyond the Story Podcast, a show that goes way beyond the story. And now Sebastian Frust. What's happening, everybody? Thanks again for tuning in. This episode I recorded in San Diego earlier this year, at the time of this podcast dropping, it's 2021. Went out to San Diego with my friends at Hype Digital, and their theme for the week, they were the VIP sponsors of the event. Their theme for the week was committed. So Traffic and Conversions had a vintage VW bus slash van, whatever you want to call it, and converted it into a small podcast studio, and all you had to do was book a day in time, and you can record whatever you chose to do. So I recorded an episode with the height team, talked about commitment, talked about traffic and conversions, and then I recorded a very short, as you can see here, episode for Beyond the Story about what commitment means to you. So let's get down to it. What's happening, everybody? Sebastian Russ coming to you from beautiful San Diego, California, Traffic and Conversion Summit 2021. I am in a podcast van right now. If you could visualize or listen to this, I'm in a vintage VW van in the middle of the exhibition floor here at Traffic and Conversions, and they've converted this into a podcast van slash studio. So you can only imagine my ears perked up when I saw that uh this setup was available to record a podcast. I'm here hanging out with my good friends at Hike Digital for the Week. They're an incredible agency that has a franchise model for agencies that are looking to scale, can plug right into their franchise model. They do all the back-end work and fulfillment. This is their first year at Traffic and Conversions, and they are the VIP area sponsors, and it's just been an incredible first year for them. And it's been an extreme privilege to be able to hang out, make some uh new connections, refresh some existing connections, and uh just be part of the Hype Digital team for the week. So, what I was thinking about, what I want to talk about here. We recorded an episode for the Hype Digital Podcast too, but I wanted to get something done for the Beyond the Story podcast family too. And the word all week with Hype Digital has been committed. We got t-shirts printed up. We've been handing them out to attendees and asking people what the word committed means to them. So I want to ask you that right now. What does the word commitment mean to you? Sometimes it's a priority, sometimes it's not. However, more times than not, we want to be committed, yet we aren't committed. And I firmly believe that commitment is an inside job, it's a one-player job, it's a it's a it's a definitive decision that's made that says, I am committed to this because I gave my word and I said that I would do it. I have to remember the story of the guy that created the iPhone. He woke up one day and said, I'm gonna create this little handheld computer and it's gonna change the world, and you're gonna be able to call anybody anywhere in the entire world at any given time on this. Most people would say that dude was completely out of his tree. And he had a different thought process, and that was I'm gonna create the iPhone because I said that I was going to create it. He was committed to making that a reality. So you always want to ask yourself, where does your prior, where are your priorities at when it comes to being committed? Where are your priorities at when it comes to your business? Sometimes we think we're committed, but we're really not. So asking ourselves those critical questions and starting with the truth is always something that can help us move the needle just that much faster forward by being honest with ourselves and asking, what does commitment mean to you? Commitment means to me. Commitment means that I'm willing to show up because I said that I was going to show up. Commitment to me means that I'm going to follow through to the best of my ability on what I committed to being able to do because I know whatever's on the other side of the commitment that I'm making is far greater than where I'm at right now. Showing up, commitment, doing what you say, keeping your word, those truly are some gifts and some keys to the castle, if you will, of life. So I just wanted to record a quick episode. I'll be doing more of these solo episodes. We mainly have been in interview format since God spoke to Moses, but I've got a lot of stuff that I want to share, that I that I share through conversations through my networking community that I'm already in. And I want to bring that back to the Beyond the Story podcast nation and be able to contribute and pour into your lives as much as you pour into mine. I posted yesterday on Instagram, if you didn't see it, I posted all about commitment. And I opened up by saying, I hate to break it to you, but no one cares if you're committed or not. No one com cares what you're committed to until, of course, they see the commitment playing out. And what happens when people see the commitment actually playing out, they begin to get enrolled in the process of what your commitment is and come along to support it. If you tell people what you're going to be committed to, no one cares. No one's listening. It's hot air, in my opinion. If people see what you're committed to and they see it playing out in your life, that's when people come along and start to resonate with it and say, hey, I want to get on board with this. Because we always want more commitment in our life. We just don't know the best course of action for being able to stay disciplined with that commitment. The best part I, the best part about this entire commitment thing and enrolling other people into our commitment is that when we actually stick to our word and say and do what we say we're going to do, not only does it enroll others in that commitment and have them come alongside us and support us, but it also starts to have them shift their own priorities and their own commitments as to what is possible in their own life and what commitment means to them. So I hope these few minutes we've spent together here while I'm at Traffic and Conversions, I don't know when this episode's dropping, but uh I am in a podcasting van in Southern California, of course. And there's a beach and there's surfboards and uh the bar opens at 9 a.m. So it, you know, it's gotta be a marketing conference on here. So if you've never made it out to Traffic and Conversions, it is an incredible marketing conference. Happens every year. Uh well, over 10,000 marketers show up to uh learn, uh, to network, to grow uh existing and new relationships. So thanks so much for tuning into this episode on here. Any questions about commitment? Feel free to shoot me an email, shoot me a DM. And remember, no one cares if you're committed. That's a decision that you have to make. Until next time, friends.
