I am tap dancing on top of the world. Thanks for asking. So you and I met in Dallas after you just got done, completely just annihilating a comedy room at TK's Comedy Club, and we were chatting before the interview. I was like I was mildly worried about that show until you actually got up there and just started doing well what comedians do, which is making people laugh constantly.

So thanks for taking some time out of your day to to hang out with me here. So and I'm actually still, I'm back in texas, so you know how ironic, right? Yeah, absolutely watch out for the hail oh yeah, I know, dude, it's nasty out here. It's very nasty. If you don't have a uh, an indoor or like a garage of some sort, your car's locked yeah, so, yeah. So you're like people. I'm surprised for, like helmets aren't standard out there. You know, like my buddy, my buddy post. He's like I didn't know you couldn't go outside when there was a hailstorm. Gosh, I got knocked in the head and almost got a concussion. I was like I don't know shit about hail, but I know enough that you probably don't want to go outside when it's hailing.

1:37 No, yeah, no, no. When there's, when there's pool balls being thrown down from the sky, you might want to stick inside for a little bit. Maybe, maybe. So I like to tell people's story on this show, you know, kind of go back to the beginning, where it all started. I know you're a comedian, entrepreneur and artist as well too Interesting combination there, and I kind of wanted to unpack that a little bit. Where did the story begin? Let's see, I started inago, um, I actually went to school for sports broadcasting at columbia college 900 years ago and, um, I wanted to do sports broadcasting, obviously. And then I got into um doing um, second city, and I fell in love with comedy.

2:18 And that's when farley I mean, I was watching farley growing up on saturday night live and I was like, oh, that's what I want to do, I want to do comedy, I don't want to do sports broadcasting. Got into stand-up in chicago, um, and then started touring a little bit with second city chicago. Got an agent, um booked my first movie being a door guy for mel gibson. I hung out with him one night. Uh, he let me know that being a an actor was the hardest thing you could possibly ever want to do and I was like, sounds great, let's do it, I can't wait to jump in. Did that long story short. Moved to LA, I was an actor for 10 years and then funny story I got passed at the comedy store in 2008, answering phones there.

3:01 By the way, if anyone wants to start stand-up comedy, go to the comedy club and just work at the club. Just go find a club and go work at the club If you don't want to do open mics, and if you want to just rub elbows with the pros, I wish I would have done that right away, which I did. I learned after doing open mics, like we talked about before. Got passed at the Comedy Store 2008. Tested for SNL in 2014. Pete Davidson got it, which was crazy. I don't even know if he's on that show anymore and then started working with Valuetainment. That's the longest story, completely short. Started working at Valuetainment doing comedy with them, doing my own sports show called the Mouthpiece, and yeah, and now here I am.

3:43 And then then I always started painting, uh, because, uh, comedy just got to be depressing at one point, so I started doing art here people always ask what I do. I said I'm a podcaster and comedian two terrible career choices, but I got lucky, I guess oh for sure, you're better off starting your own plumbing business, right right, and it's, it's. It's crazy that that the comedians are some of the most depressed individuals on the planet, because, I mean, the whole idea around comedy is to make people laugh. You would think one would start with themselves, but I guess that's not always the case, huh. Well, I think from the thing is is like people see, like it's all like glamorous and stuff you get to go travel on the road with, like some of the biggest stars you see on TV. Some of the biggest stars you see on TV are one either huge dicks or two, they're just as depressed as you.

4:26 And three, you're not staying in the same room as they are. They're staying in the night suite down the hall You're staying in. You know, basically the ice maker. I mean, things now for me are better in terms of traveling situation and where I stay, but the glitz and glam of stand-up comedy is not what everyone thinks it is. When you kill and you crush on stage, that's where you're happiest, and then when they turn the lights off, that's when things get dark again. Yeah, it's time to go home we get to go start all over again, you know it's like the world of sales You're only as good as your last sale. I think that, as that translates to comedy, like you're only as funny as your last set, you know, totally A hundred percent yeah. I found myself getting bored with my own content.

5:06 Is that, is that? Is that just me? Or is that like a comedian thing? No, it happens all the time. That means you just got to push yourself to get better, you got to find other things that make you laugh. You know, like the other day I would sit I was, I have year during COVID and during my personal relationship, with the breakup and now being a dad and being a single dad and then getting back on this dating scene in my 40s is a whole thing and I just wanted to make it something relatable. That were guys my age that are kind of going through it too. But if you're getting sick also of your material, start just looking around and stuff, Just observing stuff. This bird won't shut the fuck up.

5:47 And you know there can be 20 minutes on that. I thought, yeah, I was about to say I, you, you've really added some good sound effects here for the interview. Well, you know, they're doing construction at my. I was waiting for you to start throwing some bird seed. Yeah, no, I don't have any around me, otherwise I would. I think they're hungry. So how old's your kid? My daughter's three. She just turned three, yep, so I'm in town for shows and then it's my mom's birthday and, uh, my daughter's going to come in town, so we're going to have a good time. Nice dude, Nice Mine's 23. I actually raised her on my own, so uh. I know all about the material I was talking about in a way 1000%.

6:29 Yeah, I think that's why I really resonated with your. I literally was and I was. That was, uh, that was a. There's some shows you go and it's like, ah, it was. He was funny at times. It was like like that, that was nonstop laughter. I'm glad I didn't order dinner, because you know right I appreciate it. Yeah, I know when I'm doing good, when people spit up their food. I mean, I saw one lady legit crying her eyes out and I was like how can I make her cry even more? you know, that's the goal you know she's crying as much as I do. Yeah, yeah, I'm not doing comedy. Yeah, love that. So you still got a deep passion for sports. Um, you're, you've got a podcast calledpiece. Let's talk about that a little bit.

7:26 I'm obviously older now, I'm in my 40s. So I was like the best thing about social media these days is you can literally start anything new that, if you really want to, with a good business model, at any age. So I said, you know, I want to start a sports show. I love Barstool Sports. Those guys are my age and I've always my goal would always be to work with those guys. So what I did was I started my own sort of mouthpiece show. It's comedy meets sports and I would say it's sort of kind of like a tmz vibe in a way, because not only nowadays. The thing about sports is these people are like they're, um, they're what's the word I'm looking for? They're, they're more like they're influencers. Not just they're not just athletes, they're influencers. So they put themselves in these situations where the food they eat, the clothes they they wear, the stuff that they endorse, is all open game for uh reactions.

8:12 And that's what my show is. It's sports, it's comedy, it's interactive and also I take it on the road um, I interview people and um, yeah, for. So right now we're doing, I'm working, working with Make Vegas Pay, so the mouthpiece will be on their platform, on YouTube, and then also Motivation. Success Productions is picking up the mouthpiece, and all this will be out within a couple of weeks. Nice, love it. So that's really become your models where you're going and you're looking at distribution platforms that can show up, and that's another thing. With the day and age, you know, exclusivity is out the window really. You know a lot of people still and try and attempt to make that a reality, but there's just too many, too many options no, there's just now.

8:55 There's a lot of options and also there's a lot of everyone wants you. Everyone's sponsorship is everywhere. So you know you could have literally lamps sponsor your shit in two seconds, and you know like I mean. So it lamps sponsor your shit in two seconds. You know like I mean. So it's just about being proactive. And then also, how hungry are you? How bad do you want it to work? How do you want the product to work? I got to ask who are your sports teams? Diehard, diehard Chicago, all Chicago so, but there's a lot of teams in Chicago so I love the Cubs. I was a Bulls fan, but now that seems like the Bulls just don't give a shit about their team at all, which is depressing, because I love the Bulls, I love NBA playoff basketball.

9:37 I think it's the best, even though also also, I'm kind of a conspiracy theorist kind of guy I am. I'm a conspiracy theorist kind of guy Kind of I am. I'm a conspiracy theorist. I was like kind of I think the NBA right now is so rigged. I think it's so rigged it's crazy. Just from the point spread to I don't know. Just, I mean sometimes a lot of stuff in the NBA that happens. You're like that doesn't make any sense. It doesn't make any sense at all. Correct, I agree with that. Also, with the Caitlin Clark stuff since you didn't ask, I was just about to. The Caitlin Clark stuff is such bullshit too. I mean how they treat her and what they're doing with her. I think it's just such a big story, not the fact that she gets snubbed from the women's Olympics, but also the fact that there is legit hatred, there's legit jealousy from a girl that's bringing her talents, from a girl that's bringing her talents and literally it's Michael Jordan with a ponytail in some aspects, or Steph Curry in some aspects, to a product that no one was fucking watching.

So I mean, caitlin Clark was shooting from half court, and that's what I'm, a dunks guy. I'm not a pass. I'm not a dribble kind of guy. So I mean, caitlin Clark was shooting from half court and that's what I'm in for. I can't dunk, shoot it from the rafters. She does it really well. I think Portnoy was pretty on with his PSA on Saturday with the whole. You know, caitlin Clark, I don't know if you caught it or not, but you know, I think I did yeah yeah, it was like what the fuck is wrong with these people it's jealousy, like I say too. Also nothing scarier than a white liberal woman, than a black liberal woman. That's even scary so I'm just you know it's.

11:14 You can only you know, bully the kid so long before he comes in one day and just freaking, hauls off. And just you know, one of these days she's gonna get checked and get up and just freaking. I don't know, maybe not. Oh yeah, you can see it. You can see it in her eyes. One of the one of the, I think, honestly put 10 pounds on this girl and have her come out looking like Schwarzenegger with a ponytail and just start kicking everyone's ass. Yeah, yeah, like the chick I know, that's Schwarzenegger the chick with the shotgun, sarah, what's her name? Oh, sarah Connor. Yeah, sarah Connor, with one cock. Yeah, I want to open up the door and I want to see Caitlin Clark in the offseason with the lights off in her room just doing pull-ups. You know, what I mean Pull-ups, and she's just playing the Terminator theme song over and over again.

11:54 But you'd be like Caitlin, dinner's ready and she just turns around and looks at you and you're like no problem, we'll be downstairs, let us know. Right, let me finish this protein shake. I I didn't realize how much she was targeted. I played golf with the assistant coach for the Canes basketball team and we were just chopping it up. In fact I just got done watching Caitlin in the game that that Saturday and they they lost and she she was in the game, the game, for not a long time at all. I said it's quite the adjustment phase for Kaitlin. He said I think it's more of a targeted phase than anything at all. Like she has an absolute target on her back that's very, very tough to go and shake and we're like like wait a second.

12:40 So we've gone from not caring about wnba at all to actually having the most viewership it's ever had, specifically because of caitlyn clark, and now she's being targeted because of that. So they're moving. I mean the thing that bugs. Two things that bugs me about the whole situation. One her teammates don't stick up for her at all. They don't. They see her fall on the ground and then they just let her sit on the ground. I'm like where's your Dennis Robbins Something? And also the coach doesn't do shit either. Coach doesn't come out and talk shit, so that pisses me off. But also, if you look at the attendance, if you look at that they're switching the games, that the three and 13 fever come to your town, they're playing in arenas, not because they're coming to see the Connecticut, whatever the fuck they're called Mercury or some bullshit.

13:32 No one's going to watch them. Sorry, girls. They're coming to watch Caitlin Clark and I don't know. I'd say it just sucks, because I would have never seen that. I thought it would have been more of a collaborative thing in the WNBA and everyone would have been so happy that they're flying charter now and not flying commercial. Right, exactly. Well, that was the whole idea was around. It was like man, she's making your job a little easier and better. And I mean, there may be, you know, you guys might make $66,000 instead of $65,000 a year. So it's Right. Yeah, set of 65,000 a year. So it's it's right. Yeah, it's ridiculous. It really is. No, I'm a diehard Cubs fan. I uh, I lived there for a year. My daughter was born in Chicago, so I kind of took to the Cubs. You know what it was, brady is that I went to a Cubs game and we didn't even go inside Wrigley, we were.

14:15 It was with a law firm that I worked at at the time and we went to to. We rented like one of those bleacher steals in in right field. Oh yeah, and you're the guys. Yeah, yeah, right so, but I thought I always wanted to be like who are those guys? what? What play out, what place, what place are are the cubs in? And this was like 2000, 2001, like last place, and if there was a place after that, the cubs would probably occupy it. But wrigleyville was absolutely slammed to the guild. And I thought this and I'm from, I mean, I'm from miami, I mean the marlins, really, maybe we had a heyday twice, yay, but like you can go to marlin stadium now and buy the whole fucking stadium beers, but wrrigley would like that hometown pride of like the Cubs.

15:04 So yeah, and then, finally, you know, broke the curse in 2016 and we're remaining, you know, remain, hopeful after the entire team was liquidated yeah, that whole, that whole week for me, um, for the Cubs, was a blackout. I mean I didn't even. I mean I was completely wasted the whole time during that whole series. I just couldn't handle it. I was too nervous. I was hiding in places just staring at the TV through like the corner, like I'd just be turning around just looking at the TV like slightly. I mean it was the most magical season, but that's the thing about Wrigley. Is the bars around Wrigley like if you don't drink, I don't think Wrigley's the spot for you you probably shouldn't. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's not, you know what I mean like the tampa bay, tampa bay rays stadium might be the spot for you.

15:49 I mean, sure, wrigley's just majestic dude, it's the best and even not a bad really seat in the whole house. I prefer the bleachers just because it's a rowdy good time. Um, maybe not anymore because I'm in my 40s, but um, but still, I mean wrigley's just the best place to to go and watch watch any sporting event, for that matter. I went to northwestern verse, illinois, and that was great too I haven't. I haven't been, uh, I haven't been back in a few years. In fact, I was checking flights this week and I was like huh, hometown, stand against, the cards may fly in, um, but uh, state's just a fucking disaster right now, especially the city too. I mean I've got a couple of friends who live there Like don't come visit, like I don't leave the house unless I'm strapped. Remember the beautiful like Michigan Avenue and all that.

16:33 He goes, all that shit's a wrap now. And I'm like, really, I'm like what about Wrigleyville? It's still like civilized. Yeah, yeah, when I was there, when I was there last year or no, when I was there um the the year after they lifted covid or whatever, people were driving their cars into or, like you know, people were driving their cars into um, into, like burberry, and into expensive ass places on state, driving in stealing stuff. Then another car would come up, they'd jump in that car and then they'd drive away. So they'd steal that car, drive it into the buildings because it's all pretty heavily not gated or whatever, but it's got pretty thick doors and pretty thick glass so you got to really go like 60 through that thing to get really in there, anyway.

17:19 So that's what they were doing. They were stealing cars, driving them into these places, stealing the merch, and then a car would pull up, they'd jump in and drive away. It's a great business model if you ask me Right, it's just. And then I was talking to a buddy that lives in, not in the city, but Blue Island, wherever the fuck that is. But he said that it was the cops don't do anything, they just don't do anything at all yeah, no. Also in some places too. If you try to go after shoplifters I think this is like Oregon or San Francisco you get in trouble wow it's the world we live in. I mean, what? What the fuck like? What is complete twilight zone upside down. I was looking also today on um. Uh, they're bringing out the new iphone.

18:00 The new iphone is coming out. Yeah, terrifying. We're fucked. We're so screwed. Whatever you're thinking it's you look at your phone. It's already like I already got it for you. It's already, it already knows what you're thinking. How fucking scary is that terrifying. Did you see elon's post? Yeah, that that was. Uh, they posted that here on this only in date account down here in south florida, if you followed her or not, but it's just like local smut. You know news and they posted, you know elon's tweet and I commented and said I think this, this post might be a little over the head for for South Florida folks. Yeah, let me ask you a question If you, if you, if you were blind and you couldn't see, and the only thing that that could fix it was that neural link thing, would you get it?

Yeah, I think that's like the. I remember like being in sunday school as a kid and watching this movie in the 80s called um freak me. I don't know what's going on. As people do we leave our house, and what do you do? You walk outside and go? Do you know what's going on? Do you know what's going on? I'm going to sit inside and just wait around. We're making some pasta, though. When you guys figure it out. I just burned some newspapers together. We're making soup. Come on in right, yeah, we all didn't. Meanwhile you got zuckerberg building a bunker and uh, and in hawaii?

20:17 yeah, he's building a five-star bunker meanwhile something we don't of course. Meanwhile he's at mma fights and shit. Just have you ever seen how awkward he is at these things? The guy doesn't have any social skills at all. He's literally. He literally looks like they're testing ai robots for the first time and he's one of them. He's just so awkward. His interactions with these dudes. You're talking to killers and then you're talking to a complete dork. Right, he can't shake the dork if he tried, he's full, dork, it is. South Florida seems to be very full these days. Am I the only one that thinks that? What do you mean in terms of what Like full?

20:58 Just like the entire world has moved here Pretty much. I mean, there's traffic up the ass. I don't know how it was back before. I mean, I've only lived there for a year now, but you know what Anything's better than living in LA, and I'm just going to be dead honest with you LA is the biggest piece of shit. It really is. I lived in orange County for 10 years, I think I went to LA six times total. Brutal, bro. I mean, even the traffic is so brutal. Like I had friends that, like close friends of mine, that lived in Santa Monica and I never, ever, ever saw them ever. You'd have to die for me to go visit you in Santa Monica at a certain time. Well, you've got to like, you've got to get out of LA proper, like across the 405 or five, and get out East. I don't even think I went out there. No, I never went to Santa Monica the whole 10 years I lived.

21:40 Oh, and then the beach is awful. The Santa Monica beach is just trash. Yeah, well, all of California beaches are. I think that there's. I was just, I had a gig in San Diego a couple of weeks ago and I got out there and I was like, do I miss California? Like I don't, like I don't miss the dirty beaches and the freezing filthy water, like at all. It's beautiful, it's great to look at, but, like the whole living there situation, uh not that exciting, so um so. So what do you what what's on deck here? I know you work on a couple of things here. You got the show in the few things working with these distribution platforms as well but what do you got on the docket here for the rest of 2024? You know what for right now, since I departed with Valuetainment, I learned a lot in terms of the product that I want to put out next for my sports comedy show.

22:25 And then also I'm hitting up a lot of new clubs going on the road with Kayvon, going uh. Going on the road with cave on, going on the road with um Santino and Bobby Lee and the guys that do bad friends, um. So I'll be opening for them uh and a couple months. So I'm just kind of taking it day by day. I'm doing my own projects, uh, I have a reality show that I'm pitching right now too, um, with a company in LA. So a lot a lot of good things, a lot of independent projects that I'm working on. So, yeah, what a time to be alive it was. It was. I support that wholeheartedly. Bobby Lee's hysterical that guy is. I've not seen a lot of his stuff at all. I always just see the clips with other comedians, which are hysterical. He was on this like faith-based podcast a couple of weeks ago and the guy was like can I pray for you?

23:19 And he's like how do we do it? Like, do I have to? Yeah, like it was, it was outstanding. Oh my gosh, I love bobby. He's great and santino is great too. They're all crushing it. I'm super proud of those guys because I know it's been a long time coming. Well, for santino it has. But what do you think about? Uh kill tony I love it. I I started comedy with Tony at the comedy store. I was at 2008 and he was 2007. He started the potluck and then he got really close with Joe Rogan and he was doing Kill Tony. And I remember when he was doing Kill Tony in the main room there was only like 15 people in the audience. No one gave a shit about the show at all no one. I was like I remember walking in at one point I was like this ain't going to work and I walked out and now it's the biggest comedy show I think in the world.

And then also my boy, adam Ray, coming out with fucking Dr Phil, where I'm like I want it, by the way, as a comedian in nature like we're awful people so we're like fuck this guy, fuck that. But I love Adam. And when I saw him do Dr Phil, I was like Dr Phil's gonna come out and go. You have to stop this. I thought so too, and he, like, endorses it 100%. Of course, Dr Phil loves it, and then Dr Phil, which is going to be great. Oh wow, no, Adam has that boy's got a gift. I mean wow. I know how long and hard Adam's been working too. He's been at it.

24:41 He was at it every day. He's one of the hardest working guys I know in comedy. You know where I found him. It was on a random Instagram video and it wasn't a clip of his comedy or anything. It was um, friends who have been to a dave matthews concert before was the actual video that he did. And I was like, yeah, I thought it was some random guy. I didn't even think it was a comedian. So I was like this guy's fucking funny. I'm gonna start following him. And then I start connecting all the dots. And then Dr Phil comes on the scene here and I'm like this is fucking genius. Yeah, and he's quick and on it. I mean, cause a lot of that Dr Phil. Shit, he's not. You're not writing any of that stuff, you know no no, no, adam's.

25:24 He's very, very smart. Adam and I did a football sketch and then we did a Taco Bell sketch where we go through Taco Bell and Adam literally orders the whole fucking menu. He's like hi, can I get a double burrito, triple cheese? He's listing all this shit off. I can't do it. This is how fast his brain works. And he has triple cheese no cheese, that even possible? And then we get cinnamon twist and then can we get no more cheese and extra cheese. Is that possible? Can we do that? And he kills it. I'm just sitting like this because I'm the boyfriend in the car. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he, he, you're right, that was a great way to put it. His brain does work so fucking fast. Like he is on it, man, it's like he is also, especially as dr phil, doing crowd work.

26:09 His doctor was like right, I don't like that answer. You got a bad attitude. Moving on. Okay, fuck you yeah. And then it'll start making fun of himself to like, yeah, I'm glad I'm not here tonight. Fuck that guy. Yeah, totally yeah, yeah, yeah. He's like I haven't seen you on anything recently. I wasn't in town. He did one show at at the end of April I think he was here and I was bummed that I missed it. He's actually one that's on my list for, like dude, that's totally time well spent going to an item. But he's, I mean he's off to the races now. I mean there's, and I really wasn't. I wasn't as much of a. Hinchcliffe is funny with his crowd work, but as a comedian I don't think he's absolutely hysterical.

26:52 But, dude, he murdered that roast. He's more of a host guy. Some guys are just built that way. His comedy's not that great. I'm going to be dead honest with you. He knows that too, so he doesn't give a fuck either, I think the same thing about. At this point it's like well, it worked out. I think. The same thing about Rogan Phen about rogan, a phenomenal podcaster, probably one of the best to ever do it. Incredible at color for ufc comedy you know well his earlier stuff I thought was really great. He had a whole bit about how la reminds him of like a moldy bread and it's right in the middle of usually where the, where the mold starts, and he goes that's like west hollywood, and then as you go out and he talks about the whole thing, about how mold just like kind of like creeps out and just I don't know I'm fucking the bed up, but it's really good, just check it out.

27:37 You ever catch any of the uh, save our parks. On, on on his podcast, he'll bring in. Like Shane yeah, he has, like Shane Gillis. Oh, um, the one guy that I absolutely love and I'd love to go on the road with the Shane Gillis for sure. I mean he's when he talks about how he almost caught down syndrome, but it just missed him. Did you see that on his special called loves dogs or whatever watch dogs? Yeah, he talks about how he has a family that all has, that has special needs, and he goes. I almost got it, but it fucking just missed me. He is he's another one, just fucking like wow, dude, is the guy ever one of those like, is he ever not funny?

28:17 I don't know. But also, also, you know, what I love about these guys too is um, people keep ripping on him, like during covid. Tony had to apologize to this one kid because he said some like racial remarks or something, but also it didn't affect him at all, it didn't bother him, he kept moving forward, didn't pay attention to anyone's bullshit. I mean, that's the thing. If you want to be successful in this business, you're going to get people coming at you left and right. You said this and you did this. After a while you have to throw up your middle finger and go.
